Adi Shankaracharya or Adi Shankara was a renowned Vedic scholar, great philosopher and a proponent of Advaita Vedanta. A champion of Hinduism and Hindu culture, he was an intellectual genius and a spiritual Guru and a child prodigy. He could speak Sanskrit fluently at two and could recite all the four Vedas at the tender age of four. He took sanyas at the age of twelve and continued to travel the length and breadth of India while propagating his teachings. During his lifetime, he composed several texts including commentaries on major scriptural texts. He propagated the true essence of Santana Dharma which is based on the pillars of love, compassion and the universality of humankind.
